This blog is dedicated to become healthier, slimming down, living well, and transformation. I was an athlete from the very first swim lesson when I was only three years old. I swam competitively for 18 years. I also played other sports like basketball, volleyball, and track and field. After college, my fitness continued when I was an officer in the Army. I always scored the highest in the unit for every single physical fitness test. I was able to do over 120 pushups, 120 situps and two miles under 13 minutes. I was always phsyically fit. I was the first female Army Diving Officer in the U.S. Army. ( http://www.womentechworld.org/bios/diver/articles/defense.htm)
That all changed after I had my first child. Three kids later, a horrible decade long relationship, and moving to a new city. My decade of becoming out of shape. I stopped going to the gym altogether and the few times I would go, I would be disgusted with how I let myself fall apart. After moving to a new city, my activity level dropped even further.
I have gained a whopping 25 lbs since moving to the tricities area. As encouragement, my husband bought me pilates classes. At first, I was offended... because I equate it to buying someone "soap" as a gift. But I went, and so began my journey back to healthy.
After a month of pilates and seeing no results, I decided to take it to the next level. This time, I hired a personal trainer and signed up for bootcamp. My workout intensity went from nil to off the chart. But alas, whenever I stepped on the scale... it was still the same. I was feeling better and going to the gym on a regular basis, but just not getting closer to my goals.
One day, I was coming back from Bootcamp class when someone wanted to race me in my MiniCooper S... 170 horsepower vs. 4 cylinders... I was thinking to myself, "whatever dude". I won the turn off the light hands down, but then he did what I like to call a "BOBO move". After I let off the gas, he decided he was going to pass me via using the wrong side of the road. Well as he was passing me, he had an "Advocare" sticker... my first thought... "you are an advocare bobo for sure."
Well the next time I was in boot camp, Lori was also wearing an advocare shirt. So, I had to ask, "what is advocare?" That is how I got into learning about Advocare. She gave me a spark energy drink to try out.
It was awesome! It kept me coming back for more. Then she told me about the 24 day challenge. Well, I tried diet pills, acupuncture, personal trainer, boot camp, pilates... nothing worked. She explained how the system worked and it sounded like everything I needed to get back on track.
So, this is a journal outlining my 24-day challenge!
